Over the next few weeks leading up to tip-off of the regular season, I’ll be sitting down with various Hornets players for interviews that will appear in Hornets.com's Audio section. First up: reserve forward Ryan Bowen.
Among the interesting things he had to say in this 13:03 chat, Bowen talks about how he encountered a few fans last season in New Orleans who told him that the Iowa product was their favorite Hornets player, a surprise to Bowen.
“I think more people recognized me in New Orleans than any place I’ve played,” said Bowen, entering his ninth NBA season. “I went to a lot of places around town, and people honestly said to me, ‘Hey, you’re our favorite Hornets player,’ and I was like, ‘Come on.’ ” Bowen related. “They were like, ‘No, really!’
“I appreciate knowing that I’m appreciated,” Bowen continued. “(Fans) know that I have a certain niche and that’s what has gotten me in the league for nine years.”

I am surprised to learn that Bowen doesn't know how well liked he is. It is always exciting when substitutions are made and we get to see the whole team play. The game always gets more interesting and we know that each man who comes in will give his best and cause a real change in the game. Where would the team be without the efforts put forth by all the guys? GO ALL The HORNETS!

Oh, after listening to that interview, I would like to say that we sent in Ryan Bowen as #1 and Julian Wright as #2 for the Floor Burn tourney, with the caveat that we didn't know yet if Bowen would be back with the Hornets next year so we were sending 2 picks. And then he signed. Go figure!
But he is appreciated for the mad floor burn!!
Wow ticktock, I didn't realize that there was actually an "entry process" for the Floor Burns tournament thing. I figured one of the sites just picked the players and that was how they ended up going with Julian Wright. That makes sense that it turned out that way, due to Bowen's later re-signing. Thanks for the info.
